reThink Green’s annual Sustainability Awards highlights achievements in community carbon reduction, sustainability, and leadership in the area of environmentalism. Thank you to everyone who nominated individuals and businesses making a difference this year!

environmental champion

The Environmental Champion Award is awarded to an individual that has gone above and beyond professionally what is expected of them in sustainability. This person has made a positive impact in Northern Ontario abroad or in their community with the resources they have at their disposal to benefit the community through sustainable practices. 

educator of the year

The Educator of the Year Award is given to an educator who shows initiative in creating opportunities for environmental education and who centres the concept of sustainability in their teaching and in their actions. They are a champion for environmentalism and sustainability and have made a lasting impact on their students and community. 

GEN innovator of the year

GEN member who has introduced a new product, method, or change that has led to a significant reduction in carbon emissions.  This innovative solution not only demonstrates the member's commitment to sustainability but also serves as a commendable example for others in the industry, inspiring further advancements in environmental stewardship. 

erica lagios memorial award in food sustainability

The Erica Lagios Award in Food Sustainability is awarded to a business, not for profit, or organization that has made a tremendous impact in the areas of food security, capacity, or availability where local agriculture is concerned. This can range from reducing the steps it takes for food to reach from farm to table, or by creating new systems for food to be distributed to members of the community who otherwise would not have access to local, fresh food stuffs.

youth leadership

The Youth Leadership Award is awarded to a person under 25 who has shown leadership with environmental sustainability. They are committed to their cause by putting their time and energy into achieving this goal through projects, community engagement, and innovation. Their success has benefitted their community and inspires others to up the cause. 

GEN member of the year

Green Economy North celebrates a member who showed exceptional effort, advocacy, and dedication in reducing their carbon emissions through scope 1 or scope 2 emissions.
