Northern Home Energy Assessments
Are you looking for an energy assessment for your home? reThink Green’s Northern Home Energy Assessment (NHEA) program has Registered Energy Advisors to offer home energy assessments in Greater Sudbury and beyond.
Our Registered Energy Advisors meet the EnerGuide standards required for you to obtain government and organization grants, incentives and rebates
energy assessment steps
complete the home energy audit assessment form
This brief form, found here, will give us all the information we need to start booking your Home Energy Audit. Once complete, one of our Registered Energy Advisors will contact you for more specific details and will confirm your audit time and date.
We can complete your E (post-retrofit) audit, even if we did not do your D (pre-retrofit) audit!
receive initial audit
Our Registered Energy Advisor will come to your house and determine the amount of energy your home consumes, commonly called a ‘baseline’, through a D (pre-retrofit) audit.
receive report
The Energy Advisor will create an EnerGuide report that will outline your current baseline and make recommendations for improvements.
apply for Greener Homes Loan
By completing a D audit, clients are also eligible for a 10-year interest-free loan of up to $10, 000 to be used on energy-efficient retrofits! Ask us about this, or visit Natural Resources Canada for more information.
complete renovations
The home owner will then complete the renovations and must be sure they keep all receipts for the project completed.
final audit
Our Energy Advisor will return and verify the renovations have improved your home’s efficiency using the baseline determined in the previous visit, in an E (post-retrofit) audit.
submit required documents
With your consent, reThink Green will submit for government and organizational grants you qualify for on your behalf. Documents submitted will include any receipts related to qualifying renovations.
receive rebates
Clients will receive their rebate cheques in the mail.
home assessment pricing
One element of the Northern Home Energy Assessment program is that you can receive a grant for the home assessments.
If you complete at least one eligible retrofit recommended in your first audit, submit all required materials, and have a second audit to confirm the changes were made – you could qualify for up to $600 to help cover the costs of the home assessments.
program updates
Our Registered Energy Advisor is now certified to help you plan your new build according to Net Zero standards!
Net Zero rated homes produce as much energy as they consume, and are being built across Canada - they are leaders in the use of energy-efficient technology at home.
NHEA is now offering audits to Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBS)! For the purpose of this program, that applies to buildings with no more than 3 storey above ground, and with 2 or more separate units.
Note: MURB audits have different pricing to standard audits - $750 for D audits, $375 for E audits.
